Join the Art Deco Society of Virginia for an exclusive tour of Azurest South, built by Amaza Lee Meredith, one of the earliest Black female architects in the United States. Tour admission is $10 with all proceeds to benefit the Alfred W. Harris - VSUAA Scholarship Fund.
Born in Lynchburg in 1895, Amaza Lee Meredith was one of the earliest Black female architects in the United States. Her first building was Azurest South, built in 1939 on the campus of Virgina State and used as a home for Meredith and her partner, Dr. Edna Meade Colson.
