Ride the Shenandoah Valley Limited

October 4, 2025

All aboard for a ride on the Shenandoah Valley Limited! This special train will feature the Norfolk & Western Class J locomotive which sports a streamline Art Deco style.

Where: The train departs from and returns to the station in Goshen, VA.

When: Saturday, October 4th, 2:30 – 6:00 PM

About the Norfolk & Western:
The N&W 611 was built in 1950 by N&W engineers at the company’s East End facility in Roanoke, Virginia. It was categorized under the “J” class and was one of only 14 ever built. Today, she is the only surviving member of that class. As part of this special route, it will be pulling several vintage coaches for an experience that was common when train travel was still the major form of long-haul transportation in the United States.

Event Details & Ticket Registration:
This will be a combined event between the Art Deco Societies of Washington (ADSW) and Virginia (ADSVA). As Virginia Scenic Railway does not allow for group ticket sales, everyone is responsible for purchasing their own tickets. Tickets are not yet on sale, but it is highly recommended to purchase them as soon as they are available. For our trip, each of us will purchase Dome Lounge tickets for the 2:30pm train on Saturday, October 4th. Virginia Scenic Railway will announce when tickets will go on sale via their e-newsletter. You can sign up for their e-newsletter in the page footer here:  https://www.virginiascenicrailway.com/.../shenandoah.../

We will also send out a notice on our social media when tickets go on sale.

Annual Tweed Ride

November 16, 2025

It's time once again for the Art Deco Society of Virginia's Tweed Ride! Join us for a jaunty ride through the streets of Richmond while dressed in our favorite fall textile: TWEED! We'll start with a registration and hydration period beginning at 11am at Penny Lane Pub where the ride will start and end. Bring your favorite two-wheeled steed and off we'll go to see some of Richmond's Art Deco and otherwise vintage sights. Along the way we'll stop for photo ops and vintage clothes shopping before returning to Penny Lane Pub for a well-earned snack. The ride is FREE! Rain cancels. Questions? Send a message via FB Messenger to Christina Stewart-York and/or Andy Nishida.
