ADSVA's Art Deco Weekend
begins in Richmond September 25th, 2026
This year our theme is Travel Art Deco Style as we celebrate the high speed trains, planes and automobiles of the era.

FRIDAY
Cocktails at the Jefferson Hotel
Please join us at the Lemaire Restaurant bar in the historic Jefferson Hotel from 7-9 p.m. for a welcome cocktail hour (two hours to be precise!) to help kick off the Art Deco Weekend festivities. It will be a great way to meet up with old friends and make new ones ahead of the next day's main event. No-host bar and food available.

SATURDAY
The 14th Annual Gatsby Afternoon Picnic
Theme: Travel Art Deco Style
In our enduring partnership with Wilton House Museum, this year's Gatsby Afternoon Picnic will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026. This year's theme will be Travel Art Deco Style. Think about the Golden Age of Travel around that time which included automobiles, trains, ocean liners, and the early days of passenger air travel.
We of course encourage 1920s attire and elaborate picnic displays. Come dressed for the occasion and transport yourself to a simpler time.
Entertainment will include:
-
A travel themed photo booth
-
The 1920s traditional jazz of the band Fatback.
-
An open dance floor for all guests to Charleston and otherwise dance the day away
-
This year's contests will feature Best Dressed, Best Picnic Display, Best Pie (with a twist), the Charleston Contest, and a return of the very popular Musical Chairs!
-
Self-guided tours of Wilton House are currently being arranged.
-
Picnic games such as ring toss, croquet, and more!
-
Shop at Daisy's Vintage Closet
-
And of course, the fabulous vintage road warriors of the Old Dominion Model A Ford Club will be in attendance.
Admission is $30/$25 for ADSVA Members. Discount code for members can be found in the August and September Newsletters. Advance tickets here. Admission will also be sold the day of the event via card or Venmo only. No Cash. All sales final. No refunds.
Rain Date: Sunday, September 27, 2026. In the event that rain is forecast the entire wekeend, the picnic will move indoors on Saturday, September 26, 2027.

SUNDAY
Tour of Scott's Addition
Cap off the ADSVA's Art Deco Weekend with a walking tour through historic Scott’s Addition. Originally named for General Winfield Scott, this early-20th century commercial and industrial area contains what is perhaps Richmond’s best selection of Art Deco and Moderne commercial architecture. Join us to
discover the history behind this popular Richmond district, now a booming residential neighborhood.
This is a private tour presented by The Valentine Museum in association with the ADSVA. The tour will start at the corner of Leigh Street and Roseneath Road outside of Tazza Kitchen. Street parking is available but a bit challenging so please allow a bit of extra time to find a spot just in case!
Tour general admission is $20/$15 for ADSVA members. Space is limited. You can register for the tour here: https://www.zeffy.com/.../art-deco-weekend-walking-tour
NOTE: Rain cancels. Also, if the weather requires moving the Gatsby Afternoon Picnic to Sunday, the tour will be cancelled and refunds will be issued.
